What are cushion inserts or pads?
Cushion inserts or pads refer to the interior of a pillow. Over time, your original cushion insert may have lost its bounce or thinned out. In those instances, the pad will need to be replaced.
Homescapes make cushion inserts here in Britain in a variety of shapes and sizes, giving your favourite pillow a new lease of life. All cushion pads are made with a 100% cotton anti-dust mite casing, with a filling of your choice.
What size cushion pads do I need?
As a general rule, Cushion inserts should be at least two inches larger than their cover. So, if your cover is 40 x 40cm, your insert should be 45 x 45cm.
Can you wash cushion pads?
Cushion pads and inserts are machine washable at home at 40°C. Ensure that cushion is completely dry before use and air dry where possible.
What are cushion inserts made from?
All cushion pads are made with a 100% cotton anti-dust mite casing, with a filling choice of: goose feather, duck feather, goose down, duck down or super microfibre. You can also upgrade your insert to have a completely organic cotton casing, too.
Can cushion inserts and pads be recycled?
Depending on the condition of the pillow, if you have a textile recycling facility nearby, cushion inserts may be accepted. However, usually for hygiene reasons, charity shops and homeless shelters are often unable to accept used pillows.
That said, animal charities are usually happy to accept old pillows and duvets to use as animal bedding – simply wash them and bag them up before offering them to local shelters.

Feather Cushion Inserts
Widely regarded as the king of all cushion pads, feather cushion inserts provide a comfort unlike any other. Filled with 100% natural feather and down, these versatile cushions can be moulded and shaped into any decorative style and provide lasting support to anybody who uses them. Fillings include goose and duck feather and down, all of which are ethically sourced, Responsible Down Standard (RDS) approved and never plucked from live birds.
Encased within down proof 100% cotton, these cushion pads are also twin stitched to prevent feather leakage.
Typically, most cushion manufacturers within the homeware industry opt for larger feathers, here at Homescapes we buck this trend and opt for smaller feathers measuring up to a maximum 4 cm in length. Larger feathers have a tendency to break, meaning that in many cases, feather filled cushions are actually filled with small broken feather pieces and feather dust, by using smaller feathers we eradicate this possibility and your cushion filling remains perfectly healthy, dust free and intact.
Super Microfibre Cushion Pads
A versatile cushion insert filled with a durable, synthetic fibre that mimics the qualities of natural down, super microfibre is the perfect all-rounder. Completely man-made, the cushion is naturally hypoallergenic and is perfect for allergy sufferers, encased within an anti-dust mite super microfibre cover that will keep all nasties at bay.
The microfibre filling is finely spun to create long strands of super microfibre, this creates that down like softness and means that we can add more than twice the amount of filling in comparison to most synthetic cushion pads. The innovative way that we fill these cushions means that they really are filled to the brim, creating that lightweight, bounce back quality so that it remains in shape and perfectly plump.
