Christmas Dining Tablecloth

Choosing your festive tablecloth is the first thing you need to do. Homescapes have a large selection of Christmas themed tablecloths. Why not choose either our gold snowflake tablecloth or our red snowflake border tablecloth, both are woven from 100% cotton to create a thick and long-lasting tablecloth.

The themed tablecloth will be the base layer for your table décor. All of your table accessories will be placed on top, therefore need to complement each other.

Statement Centrepiece

With this in mind, the next step is to create a statement centrepiece; this can be something that ties all the decorations together and a talking point for your dinner guests.

As it is Christmas, a little bit of DIY can really create a festive piece, for example, we have used a simple frosted wreath and placed in the centre of our table. The next step is to wrap fairy lights around the wreath, woven in and out of the frosted fir, making sure all the lights are visible. If you have battery-powered fairy lights, be sure to place the battery boxes underneath the wreath out of sight.

With the wreath placed in the centre of the table, place an appropriately sized candle in the centre. A top tip for those who are going to be up and down from the dinner table, why not use an LED candle, this will ensure you do not forget to blow the candle out at the end of the night.

Once you have your centrepiece ready, you can now build your table décor around this. Depending on how many dinner guests you may have, place each plate onto the table. By getting the dinnerware out before, you eat; you can relax later on without having to worry when your guests arrive.

Creative Table Napkins

Getting creative with your table décor is a great way to impress your guests and create a festive table. Follow our step-by-step guide to create a decorative napkin statement piece, place each napkin onto the plates laid out on the table to create a real impact. Especially when using the red tablecloth with snowflake border, with plain white plates and a red snowflake napkin.

1 – Place the square napkin with the snowflake pattern side down onto your table.

2 – Carefully fold each corner back so the corners of the napkin are all touching in the centre.

3 – Then flip the napkin over so that the folds are face down on the table and you have a neat square with no fold facing upwards.

4 – Again, fold each corner back so that the corner of the napkin reaches the centre of the square.

5 – Lift on corner of the napkin slightly and gentle pull the fold out to create a leaf like effect. Repeat this for all four corners.

6 – You should now have a perfectly formed ‘Lotus’ napkin arrangement. Placed on top of a white plate this can create a statement piece for any table set this Christmas.

Now for the final touches, if you have some small baubles left over from your tree, you can place them randomly around your table. By using glossy or frosted baubles, this will add another layer of texture to the table and is a simple way to decorate.

If you are hosting a Christmas dinner for a large party of people, you can use small baubles as name places. By tying, a small nametag to the bauble placed next to or on top of the plate, this can be a stylish yet simple way of making your guests feel welcome.
